Newport OR Adventure

Returned to Utah the middle of August after being gone 2 1/2 weeks. I spent most of the time in Bend, Medford, and last but not least Newport. In Newport I met up with Julie (Coon) Williamson, Sandy (Kirkpatrick) Lynch, Jan (LaGrande) Krause, Rachel (Myer) Patten, Mary Beth (Solberg) Scott, and Phyllis (Whitby) Saks. Phyllis rented a house near the beach where we all stayed. We had a great time talking, eating, shopping, etc. It is wonderful that after all these years we can still spend time together and believe me, there is never a dull moment.

Phyllis made some delicious french toast, Julie made some great egg dish and bran muffins, and Jan made some super blueberry cheese blintz recipe along with an apple pie dessert. They all surprised me with a birthday celebration as well. I returned feeling rejuvenated and now trying to get motivated for more around the house projects. May you all enjoy what is left of our summer!!!

Happy to see new Blogs by other people

Hey Everyone,

I was thrilled to sign on to our Blog site and see some new postings. Thanks John, Mary and Gail for taking the time to post--you made my day and made me smile. It is always fun to come to the site and see it growing and changing with new postings. Please continue to post information. Even if it is to just stop by and say Hi to us. We really do want to hear from you!

Well, I took a trip now Memory Lane on June 26 and June 27th. Bob--the love of my life and I went to Klamath Falls for the "Kruise the Klamath." We took our 57 Chevy down there to the car show and cruised Main Street for about 3 hours on Saturday night. We did the car show out in Moore Park on Saturday until about 3:30 PM on Saturday. Who remembers going to Moore Park and hanging out? In High School all the girls went to check out the boys and their cars and the music they were playing when they were cleaning and waxing their cars. I also remember going there as a kid for family picnic's and the Southern Pacific Railroad use to have their BIG Company picnic there too. Both my parents worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad so we always went. It was a fun day at Moore Park and I saw a lot of people we went to High School with. We were parked right next to Ron and Linda Sumner who have a beautiful red 55 Chevy (use to be Linda Lenninger). They were in the class of 1962--been married a very long time--since High School I think. They are so much fun to be around, and Ron and Bob have become good friends--they both love cars. There were a little over 300 cars out in Moore Park for the cr show. That evening we all cruised Main Street and we had over 300 cars that were in the cruise(who can forget dragging Main Street back in the 60's????? boy we burned up a lot of gas back then didn't we) Now the people sit along the side of the street for hours and watch the cool cars cruise Main Street. I think the cruise for me really brought me back to great memories--all good and lots of fun back then! So that was my trip down memory lane. I was really happy to see old friends and give them a hug. I am glad that we are still alive and healthy and happy. I had promised Andi Silani at the last class reunion that we would give her grandson's a ride during the cruise, so we found them, picked Andi and her two adorable grandson's up and they cruised with us for a little while. Her Grandson's thought that was pretty cool! It was great to be able to do that for Andi--by the way she looks just like she did in High School--what a beautiful woman she is!

I have been enjoying my summer. It has warmed up quite a bit here in Eugene, OR where I have lived for the last 34 years. I feel very lucky to live here. Both my children live in Portland, OR and that isn't that far away if I want to go see them.

Life has been pretty good to me. I met Bob about 4 years ago and this has honestly been the best part of my life. We are having sooooooooooo much fun together and he is great. No we aren't married, we are just engaged. We thought maybe when we are in our 80's we might think about getting married--LOL. We love our life just the way it is right now and we are both happy with what we have. I have talked him into coming to our 50 year reunion. He has had the opportunity to meet some of the people I went to school with and found out they are regular people just like he is. I think he feels more comfortable about going to the reunion now after meeting them.

I would love to see more of us sending out Blogs, so please talk on E-mail to your friends from High School and tell them to come and Blog. They will need to contact me first: Suzannesh@aol.com and I am more than HAPPY to add their names to the site so that they can start to Blog. Enjoy the rest of the month of July. In August Bob and I are flying to Reno for "Hot August Nights." That is really fun, we went last year too.

Take care and Hugs to all of you,
Suzie

Hey everyone!

John Kowalis here..

Tried several times to get on this site, finally had to have Suzie put me on..

Hard to believe how long since graduation.. Time flies, and now we have memories most of our associates don't.. Little things like Presidents, Wars and the 60's and 70's seem lost on most of mine and it makes me feel old until I realize I am, or at least getting there.. How long does middle age last anyway?

I have lived in Salem for the last 40 years and worked in Portland for the last 35.. Guess I like to drive.. The last 23 I have worked at the Performing Arts Center and it is so rewarding I may not retire.. At least, I won't hurry into it..

Well I will close and write more later...

4th of July

Hello everyone and I hope you are all looking forward to a July 4th celebration! I am ecstatic to have Friday off. We are driving to Prescott, which is about 2 hours north and much cooler - in fact, it is at the same altitude as KF! Prescott has a fairly (in)famous rodeo celebration over several days which we plan to attend that evening, and I am so excited! Haven't seen a rodeo around the 4th since Klamath (anybody remember Ross Dollarhide?) Anyway, the first rodeo I attended in Phoenix was INSIDE AN ARENA. Sooooooo wrong. Summer has landed with a heavy fist here so we are looking forward to just getting outa here to a higher altitude and the sight of trees other than palm, if even for a day! I do hope you all are enjoying your summer. And Gail, what a great place to live -- as you say, no need to look elsewhere for beauty or nice weather!!!

Best wishes,
Mary

Hi Suzie and fellow bloggers

Hope everyone is having a great summer! I'm always asked where I'm going for summer vacation but with the giant redwoods on one side and the beautiful Pacific Ocean on the other, I tend to stay home and enjoy all that Crescent City and surrounds have to offer. Especially since the high temperature here is somewhere around 65 and the sun is shining brightly!! I'll be traveling to K. Falls in October - hope to see some of you then! In the meantime, if you find yourself in the area and want a guide through the coastal redwoods, I'm your person!

Went to Klamath Falls this last weekend

Hi Everyone,

Well, Bob and I had the opportunity to go to Klamath Falls, this last weekend--June 27, 2009. We attended the "Kruise the Klamath". The event was held in Moore Park (hey you all remember Moore Park don't you???) They had about 365 classic cars, and street rods there. We took our 1957 black Chevy Bel Air Hardtop. We had a wonderful time and I saw quite a few of our classmates. The picture you see here is a picture of my Dad and I. He will be 84 in August and I feel so very lucky to have him in my life still. He is an amazing man who is still in fabulous mental and physical health--sure hope I live to be just like he is.

On Saturday night we cruised Main Street. I am sure that all of you remember how we use to burn up the gas doing that back in the 60's. We had a great time, and the weather was perfect. It sure brought back a lot of old and wonderful memories. Ok, some of you PLEASE jump in here and write something on this Blog Site!

Take care and Hugs,
Suzie

Great to see other people posting

Hey Everyone,

I thought it was great when I signed on here and saw that Jim and Karen have posted something. It really is nice seeing the two of you on the site. It has been a lot of years since I have seen some of you. I really would love to see you at our next class reunion--Wow a 50 year class reunion--we aren't old enough are we?????????? So many of us have retired or only work part-time. I am sure that none of us every thought that time would go by that fast. For me I wouldn't trade anything that has happened in my life. Now I am not saying that everything was wonderful and perfect. I am saying that the things that happened to me made me who I am now in life, and I really like who I am now in life. For me the last part of my life sure feel fabulous. I have all the things I need in life, I am very happy and healthy--who could want more.
I am really looking forward to seeing more of you sending in some Blogs. So encourage some of our classmates to sign up and send us a little Hello. Jim and Karen thanks for doing following through.

Take care and have a wonderful week!

Suzie
